Below is a second story from Grayslake Review by Marcia Sagendorph.
In life, and in death, Debbi Tepper brought people together.
She was a known as the person who united others in her Round Lake Beach neighborhood. After the 50-year-old mother died suddenly May 29, there has been an outpouring of support from friends and even strangers. Several community fund-raisers are being planned to benefit the Tepper family.
Neighborhood kids are selling candy and running lemonade stands to do their part. Classmates and teachers of her son, Brandon Tepper from Frederick School in Grayslake, are raising money.Community events are planned for this summer to ensure the ongoing support of Debbi’s kids and her husband George, who is awaiting a kidney transplant and goes to dialysis three times a week.
“Debbi was the hub of our neighborhood,” said friend and neighbor Lori Koons. “She knew everyone. We have comprised a team of about 32 people to help with transportation, housekeeping and meals.”
She said they would love to raise enough money to cover funeral expenses, medical bills and the family’s mortgage.
“My goal is to get their house saved and paid off, and to get their medical and funeral expenses covered,” Koons said. “Debbi was the kind of person who set aside her desires for others. Now, it is our turn.”
Donations can be made to “Team Up for the Teppers” at any Fifth Third Bank location.
